President’s Message

Dear FAMU Alumni and Friends, Welcome to the Plant City, Florida Chapter of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) National Alumni Association (NAA) website. I want to thank you for taking the time to see what we’re doing in Plant City to support our alma mater, the NAA and our community.   I hope you will view this website as a vehicle that will enable you to stay abreast of University, NAA, and Plant City Chapter activities and events, as well as a means of maintaining contact and reconnecting with friends and former classmates in Plant City and Tampa Bay I consider this website to be an excellent way to communicate alumni association and chapter information to all of you. This site will provide information about the chapter, chapter officers, area contacts, FAMU news, events and issues.  The Plant City Chapter strongly encourages each alumnus to reach out and help another alum become more involved and to serve as ambassadors for the National Alumni Association and FAMU.   The past couple of years have been exciting ones for the Plant City Chapter. We continue to reach out to Rattler family and friends in our effort to grow our chapter’s membership.  We’ve increased our fundraising activities over the past five years and in turn, increased organizational and personal contributions to the University by more than 25%.  In order to take our chapter and our giving to the next level, we need you.   The NAA has a renewed purpose; increasing alumni membership and giving to the University.  Under the direction of the NAA President, Dr. Alvin Bryant, and our University’s 10th President, Dr. James Ammons, Rattler Nation is on the rise and FAMU has quickly returned to the elite among colleges and universities As Chapter President, I welcome and encourage your suggestions and comments. The chapter officers and I are honored to have the opportunity to serve you and take that responsibility seriously. Enjoy our Plant City Chapter website and all that it has to offer.  Visit the site often and let us help you help our FAMU. Venomously yours,

Maurice S. Pickett
